The good news is that having kids is actually good for you. The bad? Stop at two or you'll be as "unhealthy" as those who have too many, or none at all.
A new study from the Journal of Social Science and Medicine shows that people who have children are at lower risk of experiencing cancer, heart disease or alcoholism, or dying in a car crash.
But if you have too few children - less than two - or none at all, you're at increased risk of dying of the conditions above. More than two, and the emotional and financial burdens of having a large family can impact negatively on your health.
But in more good news, women with lots of children have a lower risk of developing breast cancer, and any marriage that welcome a child is said to be happier, say the researchers. Phew.
