Big love equals long life
Want to live longer? Get married - lots!
Ditch the macrobiotic diet and say goodbye to an alcohol-free existence: all you need to do to live longer is embrace polygamy. Duh.
Researchers have told New Scientist magazine that polygamy - marrying more than one partner - could be the key to longevity. A study conducted by the University of Sheffield in the UK found that men with more than one wife lived 12 per cent longer than their monogamous counterparts.
The reason for their long lives isn't entirely clear, but lead researcher Virpi Lummaa says it could be that, because these men are fathering children into their 60s and 70s, they are compelled to stay healthy when others are not.
