Can you believe D and I got engaged a year ago? It's amazing to think that just one year ago, D proposed in New York. Fast forward 366 days (yesterday was our engage-versary) and we're about to be hitched.
So much has happened since we popped a bottle of champers in Central Park. We've planned most every detail of our wedding now - from who we want to share the day with to what we'll be eating and drinking at the reception. I won't lie to you - there were moments where it felt really stressful. Luckily, D is just about the most calm and patient person in the world (which is good for me because I'm basically the most neurotic and impatient person in the world). While I collapsed in puddles of tears, he quietly put his arm around my shoulder and said, "It's OK. This is going to be a wonderful day that we'll remember for all the right reasons. There is nothing to worry about." And what do you know? He's totally on the money. I am so looking forward to our Big Day, and while at the beginning of the engagement, I was reluctant to get involved the whole bridal thing, I'm now embracing it. After all, it really is going to be a lot of fun to get glammed up in front of our closest friends and family, marry the love of my life and dance the night away. From here in on, whenever I feel the teensiest bout of nerves coming on, that's what I'll be thinking.
The great thing is that most of the work is done now. I'm working on my vows (even though D tells me it's still to early!) and trying to keep my weight stable so I fit into my dress perfectly! And apart from that, I'm going to enjoy these coming weeks. After all, they're my last as a single lady.
