My fashion life began at the age of 16 when I was extremely frustrated at high school and eager to get my teeth into the world of fashion design. After persuading my parents to let me leave school, I was accepted into the East Sydney Advanced Diploma of Fashion Design. After many tears, and with no money, I completed the course and decided to try my luck at styling. I got myself some work experience at Cosmo. I have now been chained to my Cosmo desk for 4 years, including some work at Cosmo Brides mag. My working day involves keeping a close eye on the hottest trends straight from the catwalks, and knowing about new celeb trends to hit chain stores.I see heaps of new ranges as they appear, and go to as many functions and parties as possible. I work with plenty of Uber-creative photographers, models, and hair and make-up artists, and am constantly inspired by the ever-changing face of fashion! My favourite shoot moment? Dancing to "Wuthering Heights" in between takes. My fashion weakness? Net-a-Porter.com on pay days.

Footballers' wives

Last Thursday saw me at the airport at 6am, waiting to catch a plane to Melbourne. My task was to meet with five footballers' wives and girlfriends at a photo shoot for an upcoming Cosmo feature. Being in a different state and knowing little or nothing about football I was quite nervous.

I checked into the gorgeously opulent Crown Towers hotel; extremely high ceilings and plush furnishings, it was all very grand. We set up hair and make-up in one of the rooms and began the transformation of our first girl. The day went on, with each girl dolled up in floor-length frocks, posing for the camera. Some of the girls were first-timers; for others it was a regular occurrence.

The best part of this job for me, besides meeting some great chicks, was getting the chance to shoot some seriously beautiful gowns; namely Alex Perry and Lisa Ho. Cosmo doesn't typically feature Brownlow Medal-ready floor-length gowns. We got the shots we needed just in time, before hotel security was ready to tackle us and our smoke machines. An evening flight back to Sydney ended the day's work.

My next task? To edit more than 300 party dresses down to just 10 of the season's hottest. A manic task. As I am not a party dress person myself (I prefer to do the jeans and heels thing!), I figure I can be objective about the situation.

Here goes…

New York, New York

Have you ever been to New York City? I’ve just returned. I mean, literally just stepped off the plane and, yes, my hair looks like crap after … oh 18 or 19 hours flying time. But what a trip! What a city! What a hoot! Let me explain … I was in New York on official Cosmo business, a fact finding mission where I was privy to a whiff of two divine new fragrances that I’ll tell you all about in the mag very soon! Let me just say this – there’s one for him (the sexy 91X RocaWear) and one for you (the mischievous and delicious new scent, Juicy Couture!)… so just keep your Christmas list (and Christmas shopping list!) in pencil for a little while yet. When working for Cosmo, however, luckily business often meets pleasure and so I also had the opportunity to play tourist, eat at some amazing restaurants, absorb the electric atmosphere of the US Presidential Elections, make new friends, catch up with old friends and shop in Zara like a woman possessed. Here are some of the highlights:
