ok, i've known this guy all my life, there was nothing really between us until...he got a girlfriend and she well lets just say she wasn't very good for him..when they finally ended it for good i guess i was there for him.
we were at a party and we hooked up, i didn't know it at the time but the ex was watching..
he tells me that he wants to be with me but the next day he is back with his ex...
so then we didnt talk, they have broken up yet again and he swears its over! and now im not sure ican

Until she is out of his life for good, there is no room for you. I think the only way to prove she is out of his life for good is to not be with him, give it a month or two or three and see if they get back together. If they do, then it's clear as mud. Why would you want to be with someone who chooses someone else over you?!?

Sorry to be brutal, but he used you to get back at his ex, if she was watching, he probably knew that. He chose his ex over you and then stopped speaking to you. This has happened to me before, and trust me, he will keep doing it for as long as he can get away with it!!! This guy sounds like a twat, by all means keep the friendship, but don't let him mess you around so he can feel like the big man in control.
