Health Q&A

Question:

Having over-indulged during the winter months I've recently began working hard to get back into shape, and while I've noticed some improvement I just can't seem to shift that weight just below my belly button or my 'muffin top' - any suggestions? from Mel

Answer:

The way body fat deposits depends on your genetics, your hormonal control and the exercise you do. Keep in mind that high sugar, high GI foods (including lollies, white bread and rice) result in relatively high amounts of the hormone insulin being secreted, which does tend to deposit fat around the abdomen so these foods are best avoided. Long exercise sessions of 60-90 minutes of cycling, slow jogging or walking in a fast state (two hours or more without food) will also help shift fat around these areas of the body.
