It Girls 2008

Amy Adams

Rollcall: Amy Adams, actor

Street cred: She starred alongside James Marsden in Enchanted.
Big break: Her Academy Award-nominated turn as the fast-talking ingénue in Junebug.
Next up: She chaperones Emily Blunt in Sunshine Cleaning.
We predict: She’ll single-handedly revive our love affair with red hair.

Rollcall: Ellen Page, actress

Street cred: She captured our hearts as the wise-cracking, straight-talking title character in Juno.
Big break: The 2005 indie flick, Hard Candy. She played a cluey teen who turned the tables on her cyber-stalker.
Next up: She keeps company with Sarah Jessica Parker in Smart People.
We predict: Very big things – there’s an Oscar in Ellen’s future. You heard it here first.

Rollcall: Ali Michael, model

Street cred: She made headlines in February when she was sent home from Paris Fashion Week because her legs were “too plump.” Uh … we don’t think so.
Big break: Being personally congratulated on her fall show season … by Vogue editrix Anna Wintour.
Next up: She’ll be the face of Sportmax.
We predict: That this Texan native will join Hilary Rhoda in the quest to fatten our eyebrows.

Rollcall: Laura and Kate Mulleavy, designers of Rodarte

Street cred: These Pasadena-born sisters create timeless, fantasy-inspired pieces for the likes of Cate, Keira and Kirsten.
Big break: In 2006, a Rodarte design made it to the cover of fashion bible Women’s Wear Daily.
Next up: Rodarte is stocked in the US, Canada, Europe, the Middle East and Asia…so an Australian stockist must be next, right?
We predict: Rodarte’s off-trend look will inspire other designers to think outside the square.

Rollcall: Doo-Ri Chung, designer of Doo.Ri

Street cred: She creates beautiful jersey dresses, known for their unique drape.
Big break: Winning the 2006 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Award.
Next up: What else? A shoe line!
We predict: With her iconic dresses, Doo-Ri is the next Diane von Furstenburg.

Rollcall: Abbey Lee, model

Street cred: She’s appeared in campaigns for Dolce & Gabbana, Lord & Taylor and Covergirl.
Big break: Gracing the cover of Nylon mag.
Next up: She’ll strut her stuff at Rosemount Australian Fashion Week.
We predict: That she’ll be bigger than Gemma Ward.
