Lizzy loves summer!
Radio host Lizzy Lovette spins the tables for 2008
There's never been a better time to be a woman in radio. Lizzy Lovette (who hosts the 6pm slot on Sydney's 2Day FM) joins a long list of talented Australian women behind the mic. From our very own Fun, Fearless Female nominees Kate Ritchie, Fifi Box and Jackie O to Triple J's Myf Warhurst and Rosie Beaton, to Lizzy's partner-in-crime at 2Day, Kate Mac, there's no shortage of fabulous women making their voices heard.
But when it comes to knowing what us Cosmo girls will be listening to this summer, we knew there was only one girl to call...Not only does Lizzy rock out each night on radio, she also hosts Channel Nine's Music Jungle. Herewith, Lizzy's guide to what you'll be chilling, dancing and snuggling to all summer long!
Lizzy says:
"Let's start at home as there is so much fantastic homegrown Aussie stuff soon to be released in 08....
"Sneaky Sound System is one of my all-time favourites and 2008 is going to be huge for them...they're currently going global, hitting the UK and Europe. They'll tour here later in the year, but for now we're loving their first single "Kansas City" from their sophomore album (perfectly titled 2) which is out in August. These guys are the BEST!
"She's already had her HUGE no. 1 hit -"Sweet about Me," but the 16-year-old sensation Gabriella Cilmi will continue to take the country by storm with her album "Lessons to be Learned."
"He sounds hot...and looks hot. Previously one half of The Bodyrockers, Kaz James is definetely one to keep an eye and ear on. We're loving his single "Breathe"...but hold your breath for his yet-to-be titled solo album.
"They are supporting Def Leppard and Cheap Trick later in the year, and there is so much hype surrounding this electro-rocking four piece from Melbourne - The Galvatrons - (named after the bad guys in Transformers!) Their EP "When we were Kids" will really make an impact on the music scene.
"There are also a few new breaking acts on our scene to watch out for:
"We are currently loving "Love Song" by gutsy Californian singer/songwriter Sara Bareilles...expect more big hits to come from her album Little Voice.
"Expect to hear a lot more from Irish trio The Script. These guys are so hot! Case in point: they're mates with Justin Timberlake, and so talented they helped produce JT's album!
"And of course, it wouldn't be summer without some new installments from the stars.
"For you rock lovers, Kings of Leon 's fourth album, Only By The Night, drops in September and Franz Ferdinand have a new, as yet untitled album coming out.
"The raunchy Pussycat Dolls will be dropping a new album called "Doll Domination." we are already loving "When I grow up" - these sassy ladies are hit machines..so definitely one for sexy summer tunes!
"And finally, on the music rumour mill there is talk of new U2, Black Eyed Peas, Timbaland, Snow Patrol and even Eminem -albums! Can't wait for that! Let's keep our fingers crossed!"
