Michelle Gooch

An incredibly vivacious young woman always with a smile on her face, Michelle manages a successful career in accountancy with a voluntary commitment to breast cancer charity, McGrath Foundation. Diagnosed with breast cancer in July 2006, at 28, Michelle, now 32, truly understands the support and assistance breast care nurses can provide women throughout their breast cancer experience.

To help other women, Michelle took on an active role on the McGrath Foundation Board as company secretary, using her professional experience in assisting the Board in all statutory and accounting matters. The McGrath Foundation says: "We know we are lucky to have her by our side every day and are thrilled she chose to join our family."

    Even while undergoing treatment she has continued to work so passionately for both the foundation and the accountancy firm, and has never let anything stop her from achieving her goals. I admire her will power and determination, she is truly inspirational and a gorgeous friend. xxx

    Michelle is an inspiration to all those who know her. Through 3 years of almost continuous adversity, she has maintained a positive attitude and always demonstrated an amazing strength of character in all aspects of life, from her personal commitment to recovery, to her career, as well as giving back to those around her. No one else I know has been so selfless, and so dedicated to helping others when they are also experiencing such turmoil in their own lives - Michelle really deserves to win this award.
