The skinny on Fashion Week

Prepare for the size zero debate to heat up again - New York Fashion Week will host special "health initiative booths" sponsored by the Renfrew Center, an eating disorders clinic.

The booths, initiated by the Council of Fashion Designers of America, will be in the lobby and backstage at Bryant Park. The CFDA will also hand out an "informational brochure on eating disorders, the signs and symptoms."

There will also be clinicians on hand to provide referrals and answer specific questions.

It's because designers are so incapable of designing around curves. It's much easier to make something that drapes straight down rather than needing shaping. Designerss need to be told they just arenot as good as they obviously think they are.  Report thisReport this

I think that the public in general would rather see healthy slim girls with curves rather than the ill looking bag of bones that we do. You aren't beautiful if you look ill and boney. Why can't these so called size 0's promote health and vibrancy?? An eating disorder is extreme. These girls aren't happy, all their happiness is fake because eating disorders come with the added bonus of depression and you can see it in their faces and fake smiles.   Report thisReport this

Thanks to Twiggy of the 50's/60's generation for the trend in being "skinny" we now have anorexia at its peak. I don't agree women should be fat, that's laziness and lack of self confidence, however to be your correct weight is all that is required for a person to feel good about themselves. Models are mannequins, fashion gurus provide goods that 90% of the "ordinary" citizens of the world wouldn't be seen dead in.   Report thisReport this

I think that everyone needs to understand what size 0 actually is. Celebrities are getting to size 0 and if you convert there size 0 to aus its actually a size 4!!! Come on people size 8 is tiny enough size 0 is anorexic people. Its disgusting there are people who are genuinely sick and size 0 is actually a made up size so that designers and hollywood directors can make models/celebrities skinner. These people are who little girls look up to! Do you want an anorexic bag of bones daughter or sister?  Report thisReport this
