Move over, Crocs...
The ugliest shoe on earth has arrived. If you thought Crocs were bad, check out the Vibram Five Fingers. Made to emulate the typical human foot and “inspired by nature” the Vibram is a slim line glove for your feet. Their function is to simulate the feeling of being barefoot safely and securely. Having been described as “condoms for your feet”, we are a little put off by this odd-looking invention.
Now, before we dismiss them entirely they have been praised worldwide and for good reason. They stimulate the muscles in your feet and lower legs to make you stronger and healthier, as well as improving your balance, agility and proprioception. The technology is made specifically for runners and outdoor enthusiasts to relive the sensation of being barefoot and can help prevent sports related injuries. For us ordinary folk it is fair to say we can give them a miss (especially with a price tag of US$200).
