Celebrity hair and makeup artist and Maybelline New York ambassador, Jade Kisnorbo shares her secrets to a flawless face, the game-changing tips she’s been gatekeeping, and the lip combo she’s currently obsessed with.
all the tips...
I became a makeup artist because...
I love the way makeup makes someone feel, both during and after you apply it. To me, it’s much deeper than what someone looks like, it’s adding to their confidence. I’ve been doing it for more than 16 years.
The best thing about my job is...
You never know who is going to be in your chair and I have a rule: no matter who it is, I always learn something from them. Whether it’s about business, promotion, parenting, whatever it is—for that short time, I listen a lot. I love it because it has given me so many opportunities, whether that be travel or meeting exceptional people and working with some incredible brands.
My best advice for makeup prep is...
Keep it simple! If your skin is well prepped, all you need is a concealer to even your complexion. Skin preparation and massage is essential. So really [try to] understand your skin and hydrate it while also massaging, so your skin is plump and youthful looking. Maybelline Instant Eraser Concealer will cover your spots and make your skin look even.
The key to a flawless application is...
Understanding your shapes, whether that is your face shape, eye shape or lip shape. Once you understand your shape, your application will look different and you’ll apply makeup with purpose!

The quickest way to amp up a look is...
Do your original makeup style but actually add a little bit of colour. The Maybelline Color Tattoo Eye Stix are a great option to create a simple eye look; or, to amp up a simple red lip, pop on some Maybelline Lifter Gloss and you’ll get yourself a juicy lip that’s more bold. Through social media and TikTok, highlighter has also had a comeback. Don’t stop at blush—instead, mix your blush and highlighter together for an ultra-glowy cheek.
A good five-minute face should involve...
The three Ms: moisturise, massage and then makeup. It’s all about good coverage that makes the skin look clear but also like skin! Aim to match your concealer shade to your natural skin tone, as well as ensuring your concealer shade is aligned to your undertone.
If I could give one piece of beauty wisdom to my younger self, I’d tell her…
Embrace who you are—the eye colour, the hair colour, the skin tone—and actually use makeup to enhance, not mask, your face.
My most memorable career moment has to be...
Lindsay Lohan was a stand-out moment—kind, down to earth and just after a good Australian glow, which we did! She was someone that I admired in movies as a teen, and by sheer coincidence I had the exact foundation Lindsay used in my kit so it made it easy to create a makeup look she felt confident in.
My go-to lip combo rn is...
I’m all about brown liner and blush on lips. The new Maybelline Lifter Liner in the shade Cross The Line is the perfect brown tone.
The viral makeup trend I actually rate is...
Blush, blush, blush! It’s not going anywhere and there are so many ways to achieve it depending on your face shape. My favourite way to apply it is to dot Maybelline Sunkisser Blush on the highpoints of your cheekbones, up to your hairline—it instantly lifts the face.

Some game-changing makeup tips I can't gatekeep...
Always start with a clean face. Turn your mascara wand vertically and your lashes will double in size. Your face is small and delicate, so be gentle and use small brushes.
If you only take one piece of advice from me about makeup let it be...
My main aim with applying makeup is that it looks like you but in HD! Makeup is so much more than how we look on the outside, it’s also about how it makes us feel, it can change our whole day. When applying your makeup, put on some music, light a candle and enjoy the experience because at the end of the day, it’s meant to just be fun.
