The humble cucumber has enjoyed a couple of bouts of virility in recent years.
Notably, it all began when Kendall Jenner’s awkward attempt at chopping the vegetable in an episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians became a meme. When the reality star kept the gag going with one of her 2022 Halloween Costumes, dressing up as a life-sized cucumber, the veg went from ick (sorry, you know it’s true) to in vogue.
As the joke died down, the vegetable slowly slipped out of public consciousness. But, as anyone who has been on TikTok as of late will likely know, cucumbers are suddenly everywhere again.
While plenty of internet chefs have been enjoying cucumbers for years, no one’s love for the veggie has captured the app’s attention quite like Logan Moffitt.
The content creator—who goes by the username of @logagm on the Clock App and @logansfewd on Instagram—has taken off in recent months, having first burst onto FYPs in July with his now-famous opening line, “sometimes you just need to eat an entire cucumber.”
Never in my life had I considered that I might need to eat an entire cucumber in one go. Better yet, never in my life had I considered that I could and would enjoy doing so. But Logan has proven me wrong and, not to be dramatic, low-key changed my life (well, my go-to lunch plans at least).
Logan’s videos follow the same formula: He slices his cucumber using a mandoline, the pieces falling directly into a tupperwear. He then adds a variety of ingredients—usually including MSG, “obviously,”— before closing the lid and shaking the tub to mix. He then eats the cucumber salad straight from the container with chopsticks. Move over one-pot dinners, we’re on the one-tub lunch train now. Logan has also branched out into influencing us to eat entire heads of lettuce, onions and other veggies, but there’s no denying that the cucumber has remained the star of the show.
In addition to being quick and easy, Logan’s recipes are actually really delicious as well. He’s racked up 4.8million and 1.1million followers on TikTok and Instagram, respectively, and his eats have found fans across the internet—including in Alix Earle (who rated it 12/10, BTW) and the Cosmopolitan Australia team (yes, we have been influenced).
Here at Cosmo Australia, we are so obsessed with these cucumber salad recipes that we have taken the liberty of rounding up some of the best. Scroll on for our recommendations of ones to try.
