As host of the wildly successful and boundary pushing podcast Call Her Daddy, Alex Cooper is no stranger to getting into the nitty gritty of her guests’ relationships and sex lives. Who Is Matt Kaplan?
Matt Kaplan, 41, has found plenty of success as a Hollywood film producer. He’s perhaps best known for producing Netflix’s To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, and currently stands as the CEO of Ace Entertainment. Previously, he was the president of Awesomeness Films.
In an interview at NYFA, he shared that his career began as an assistant at Lionsgate, where he payed his dues for many years before working his way up into an executive role before eventually moving to Blumhouse production company.
How Did Alex Cooper And Matt Kaplan Meet?
Did the pair lock eyes at a fancy Hollywood event and instantly know each other was the one? Well… not exactly.
Cooper and Kaplan first met over a Zoom call back in 2020, and went out for dinner a week later. Romantic, right?
The podcast princess was scheduled for multiple meetings with film and TV companies to discuss potential business ventures, and one of those meetings just happened to be with Matt Kaplan.
While the Call Her Daddy host didn’t initially tell her audience much about Kaplan, she did recall her first date on the podcast, sharing: “I get into the car, we lock eyes. You know those people you meet immediately that it’s just like you feel like you’ve known each other for so long? We immediately vibed and it was just like we’re going to get along so well.”
When Did Alex And Matt Get Engaged?
Come April 2023, the pair announced on Instagram that they were officially engaged.
Captioning a pic of the pair sharing a smooch, Cooper wrote, “…I’ve felt so comfortable sharing the most intimate moments of my life with you, so it’s only fitting I share this with you… because I definitely wouldn’t be here saying yes to a man and getting married if it wasn’t for all of you… FIANCÉ FATHER ERA STARTS NOW.”

Sure are! The two tied the knot in April 2024 in Riviera Maya, Mexico, sharing a slew of stunning wedding photos to Instagram.
Cooper and Kaplan decided against sharing their official wedding date online in hope of keeping the ceremony as private as possible. On an episode of Call Her Daddy she shared, “I don’t want it to be somewhere people can publicly consume our wedding. I don’t need Uncle Marty on his retirement trip in the background snorkelling belly up, holding a fucking Piña colada in my shot.”
She explained further, “It’s so important to me that Matt and I actually have this day to ourselves. I would rather have every f*cking person at our wedding have the worst goddamn time, and Matt and I f*cking thrive.”
In an interview with Vogue, Cooper later revealed that the wedding took place on April 4, telling the publication, “It was everything we wanted it to be. It was emotional, heartfelt, and we tailored it to exactly how we always envisioned it.”
Has Matt Kaplan Been Married Before?
Kaplan was previously married to Australian Originals star, Claire Holt, however the two filed for divorce in 2016 after less than a year of marriage.
The big-shot director has also been romantically linked to Ashely Olsen. The two dated for approximately three years, parting ways in 2004.
