Alex is Australia’s number one ranked tennis player and Katie, the UK’s number one woman. Accordingly, these two are the tennis’ world’s most prolific power couple, a title bolstered over the holidays—aka ahead of the Australian Open—with an engagement announcement!
The pair shared the happy news with a smiling selfie posted to Instagram on December 23.
“We’ve been keeping a small secret,” they captioned a joint post that featured the emerald-cut diamond front-and-centre.
How Long Has Alex De Minaur Been Dating Katie Boulter?
Alex De Minaur has been dating now-fiancée Katie Boulter for almost five years.
While you’d think the pair would have crossed paths in competitive tennis circles, they actually didn’t meet on the court.
Katie told the Sydney Morning Herald they “bumped into each other at six in the morning” when they were staying at the same hotel “and ended up getting a coffee. From that moment, I knew I was in it for the long haul.”
Alex added that their relationship started in the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic. “I was in Spain under house arrest and she was in the UK, so we had months of talking on FaceTime,” he said.
Alex and Katie initially hid their relationship from the public and their fellow athletes. In a video for Tennis Australia, Katie joked: “Remember that time when we were having breakfast on like separate tables?”
Alex added: “That was the early stages. We would rock down to breakfast at different times,” which he said they did in order to “avoid speculation.”
They went public with their romance in 2021.
