If you were one of the many young women holding out for the strapping Spaniard—then you might be in luck. It seems like Carlos is on the market.
Back in June 2024, Carlos confirmed he was single, telling The Sunday Times that he was “looking for someone.”
The athlete shared an insight into some of the difficulties he encounters finding the balance between relationships and his tennis career, speaking to Vogue the year prior. He said, “It’s complicated, never staying in one place,” adding, “It’s hard to find the person who can share things with you if you’re always in different parts of the world.”
Prior to the Vogue interview, Carlos had been linked to fellow Spanish tennis star, Maria Gonzalez Gimenez—who is mentioned by the magazine in the piece. Their relationship was never confirmed as the rumoured couple were adamant about keeping the details of their romantic relationship out of the public eye. The writer notes that Carlos alluded to a breakup, too.
The Daily Mail reported that both Carlos and Maria grew up in the same Spanish village, El Palmar, Murcia, and have known each other since childhood.

Maria Gonzalez Gimenez is a professional tennis player from Spain who is currently competing for Real Murcia Tennis Club and has participated in the Spanish Masters and the Federation Cup. She’s just as talented off the court, and is currently studdying law at the University of Murcia, where she’s on the path to earning a bilingual degree.
Despite this, she decides to keep a lot of her personal life—especially any potential romance, past or present, with Carlos—out of the public eye.
