Damiano David and Dove Cameron have such a sweet A-list love story. The two musicians hard-launched at the start of 2024, following months of dating rumours, and have proven several times since that they are one of the hottest couples ever. But how did they come to be?

August 2022: Dove Cameron and Damiano David meet for the first time
Dove Cameron and Damiano David first crossed paths at the 2022 Video Music Awards. Dove was nominated for the same award as Måneskin, Best New Artist (which she ultimately won BTW).
In her June 2024 Cosmopolitan US cover story, Dove recalled meeting the band back stage but “I don’t think I even spoke to Damiano. I didn’t think anything of it. I went about my night. I’d just won a VMA.”
She added that over the next year, the band’s team reached out to Dove about working with them on their debut album, as well as supporting them on tour, but it wasn’t meant to be.
“There were just these passing-ships-in-the-night things happening,” she said. However, she added, “So when we met again at the 2023 VMAs, we had a reason to talk to each other.”
June 2023: Damiano confirms break up from long-time girlfriend
In June, Damiano confirmed he had split from long-time girlfriend, Giorgia Soleri after a video of him kissing someone else at what appeared to be a party went viral.
“I am very sorry this video came out, it was not how I wanted to handle the situation and it was my mistake,” he reportedly wrote on his Instagram story. Damiano added that he and Giorgia had called it quites days before the clip was taken and there were “no betrayals of any kind.”
“I hope this doesn’t affect Giorgia’s image,” Damiano said, urging fans to “respect the delicacy of this moment.”

August 2023: Damiano invites Dove to Måneskin's MSG gig
A year later, when they ran into each other at the VMAs once again, something was different. Dove recalled, “A year can do a lot. It felt like it had been 10 years or something.”
The singer continued, “[Damiano] was like, ‘We’re starting our world tour at Madison Square Garden. If you’re still in town in a few days, we’d love it if you came.’ It was super innocent. And then [the band] invited me back to their greenroom and then we started talking and then he asked me to the after-party. And then very quickly it became ‘Let’s have dinner at 8:00 at this spot.’”
She added, “He’s a Capricorn, so he was very much like, ‘Okay, these are my intentions.’ It was super honourable. He’s like a 1950s gentleman, angel, teddy bear. He’s the best person I’ve met in my life.”

September 2023: Fans cotton on
Fans first started to speculate Dove and Damiano were an item after she posted an Instagram story taken at one of his gigs. While it could have meant nothing, it ultimately meant something.
November 2023: Dove and Damiano are papped on dates... twice
Rumours Dove and Damiano had coupled up really ignited after they were papped leaving Espaco Unimed in Sao Paulo, Brazil, following a Måneskin concert., on November 4.
24 days later they were photographed kissing and holding hands on the beach in Sydney.
In her Cosmopolitan interview, Dove touched on how the couple handled pap shots being leaked before they had defined their relationship.
“At one point, some paparazzi photos got leaked. We went back to the hotel room and we were like, ‘Well. Fuck, I guess.’ I think in the pap photos we were kissing, and both of us had never been in that situation. There’s no handbook for how to handle this,” she said.
Dove added, “We were pretty casual at that point. So it was, do we trust that this is going to go right? We didn’t know. So we went about it in the most sane way we could think of, which is just leave it. Live our lives, but live them mostly quietly.”

The duo confirmed their relationship in the most celeb way ever: with a joint red carpet appearance, sealed with a kiss.
Dove and Damiano made a sweet pair attending Clive Davis’s pre-Grammy gala together.
May 2024: Looking loved-up at the Met Gala
If the pre-Grammys party wasn’t enough, Dove and Damiano attended the 2024 Met Gala together, both dressed in Diesel.
While this was Damiano’s first time attending, Dove previously went in 2022.
June 2024: Damiano accompanies Dove to the Cam For A Cause gala
One June 2, Damiano accompanied his girlfriend to the Cameron Boyce Foundation’s annual Cam For A Cause gala, held in honour of her late friend and Descendants co-star, Cameron Boyce.
June 2024: Dove opens up about their romance
In her aforementioned Cosmo cover story, Dove got *super* candid about her and Damiano’s love story.
She opened up about their first date, describing it as “very, very slow, cautious, feeling-out, interview-type questions for eight hours” before either made a move.
“I remember I was fascinated because he presents in a way that seems very easily digestible and then you spend two minutes around him and you realize he is the kindest, most generous, most innocent, most giving person. He’s just a beautiful, sensitive soul,” she added.

Who Is Dove Cameron?
Dove Cameron is a 28-year-old American actress and musician.
She found fame on Disney’s comedy series Liv and Maddie, before going on to star in the network’s Descendants trilogy. Dove made the move into music back in 2022 with the release of her single, ‘Bad Idea.’ The first half of first feature length album came a year later, with Alchemical: Volume 1 dropping in December.
Prior to Damiano, she dated her Descendants co-star (and Gossip Girl actor) Thomas Doherty from 2017-2020.
Who Is Damiano David?
Damiano David is the frontman of Italian rock band Måneskin. The band was formed in 2015, but had their break out moment in 2021 when they won the Eurovision Song Contest.
He is also embarking on a solo career, with his individual debut, ‘Silverlines’ dropping in September 2024.
