As anyone who watched the premiere episode of Married at First Sight Australia 2025 will know, this season of the show is set to be a doozy.
Not only had one couple matched already met (more on that here), the other pair we met in ep. one—Eliot Donovan and Lauren Hall—had some traditional values, to say the least.
On the surface, Eliot and Lauren seemed to be a perfect match. They look to the values and gender roles of decades past (the episode featured several mentions of the 1920s, ’50s and ’70s) as the model of a good relationship. Eliot wanted a feminine bride and Lauren wanted a masculine protector—it all made sense!
However, the couple may not be set for a happily ever after…

Does Eliot Leave MAFS?
A teaser for an upcoming episode of MAFS Australia shows Eliot packing his bags and telling producers he wanted to quit the experiment. His sudden exit plan was sparked by noticing some things about Lauren which he says he was not willing to “compromise on”. One of these included his bride’s age, with Eliot telling the camera: “I wanted someone younger than me.”
One insider told to Megan Pustetto’s So Dramatic! Podcast, that it all just “became too much” for Eliot, and he didn’t even last 48 hours in the experiment.
The source added: “Lauren was understandably left hurt, blindsided and embarrassed.”

What Happens To Lauren On MAFS?
If you’re disappointed by Lauren’s short-lived run on MAFS, don’t fret: she’ll be back.
Yahoo! Lifestyle reported that after her groom ran away, producers found her a new match and brought her back into the experiment as an intruder. The outlet published photographs of the bride with her new groom, professional golfer Clint Rice.
That’s not all, though. So Dramatic! reports that Eliot *also* returns as an intruder later in the series. Oh, the drama.

Are Lauren & Eliot Still Together?
With all the above in mind, we think it’s safe to assume that MAFS Australia’s Lauren and Eliot are not together IRL.
