Jennifer Lopez has reportedly filed for divorce from Ben Affleck, putting an end to months of speculation the couple was on the rocks.
According to TMZ, J Lo filed papers in a Los Angeles court on August 20—exactly two years on from her and Ben’s blow-out (second) wedding ceremony.
In the papers, the musician is said to have marked their separation date as April 26, 2024.
The outlet also reports that the filing did not mention a prenup, and that sources confirmed there was no prenuptial agreement between the pair.
“[Jen] was done waiting and the date she did it speaks a ton,” a source told People, of J Lo’s choice to file on her and Ben’s wedding anniversary. They added that the move, “gives her control of the process … It’s good that she did it.”
“She tried really hard to make things work and is heartbroken,” the insider continued.
This is not the first time Bennifer has split. The couple famously got engaged in 2003, before breaking up in early 2004.
Ben went on to marry and have children with other people, with J Lo marrying Marc Anthony in 2004 and Ben wedding Jennifer Garner in 2005.
The duo rekindled their romance in 2021 and tied the knot in Vegas the following June. They followed the Little White Chapel nuptials with a bigger ceremony in the US state of Georgia in August 2022.
Neither Jen nor Ben has made an official statement at the time of writing.
