In devastating news for reality TV fans around the world, Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury have called it quits. Molly-Mae shared the news with fans via an Instagram story uploaded overnight.
The duo have been one of the most famous couples to emerge from any edition of the Love Island franchise. They found fame after meeting on the UK version of the show in 2019, where they were runners up. They welcomed their first child, daughter Bambi, into the world last year.
Why Did Molly-Mae & Tommy Break Up?
All reasons for Molly-Mae and Tommy’s split are, at this point, completely speculative. While TikTok is already awash with theories, neither Molly-Mae or Tommy commented directly on why they broke up in their respective statements.
Fans have been quick to note some interesting wording in Molly-Mae’s post, though. In a statement posted to Instagram, the reality star lamented that she had never expected the relationship to end, writing, “especially not this way.”
In the announcing the breakup on August 14, Molly-Mae wrote: “Never in a million years did I ever think I’d have to write this. After five years of being together I never imagined our story would end, especially not this way. I am extremely upset to announce that mine and Tommy’s relationship has come to an end.
“I will forever be grateful for the most important thing to me now and always, my beautiful daughter. Without us there would be no her, she will always be my priority.
“I want to thank you all for the love you have shown us over the last five years. You have all been a part of our journey and I feel it’s right to share this with you all.
“Whilst I attempt to navigate the coming days and weeks please kindly respect my privacy over this difficult time. I’ll be back when it feels right. Molly-Mae x.”
Tommy later issued a statement of his own, too.
“I am heartbroken that Molly & I have decided to end our relationship,” he posted on Instagram. “The past five years have led to us having our beautiful baby girl, Bambi, and I will be forever thankful to Molly for making me a dad. Bambi is our priority. Please respect our privacy, and our families’ privacy as we navigate our way through this difficult time.”
While cheating rumours have followed the pair for several months, they have never been substantiated.
Did Molly-Mae & Tommy Get Married?
Molly-Mae and Tommy’s breakup announcement comes just over a year since the pair got engaged. In July 2023, Tommy proposed to Molly-Mae while on holiday in Ibiza.
Just a few weeks ago, Molly-Mae answered questions from fans on Instagram and said her and Tommy were hoping to get married in 2025.
Only a month ago, Molly-Mae posted a video marking one year anniversary of the proposal.
