Sabrina Carpenter and Barry Keoghan became an instant it-couple when they first sparked dating rumours back in December 2023.
At the time, the Irish actor was fresh off the success of Saltburn and the songstress, who was yet to release her #1 single ‘Espresso,’ was touring with Taylor Swift. Naturally—after they beat the PR relationship rumours—the revelation that two of Hollywood’s hottest stars-on-the-rise were coupled up sent the internet into a frenzy.
As their respective profiles have grown throughout 2024, their relationship has seemingly blossomed, with joint appearances at the Vanity Fair Oscars After Party and the Met Gala all but confirming that things were going smoothly. Barry also starred in the music video for Sabrina’s hit track Please Please Please, which premiered on June 7 and saw her please, “I beg you, don’t embarrass me motherf*cker.” That’s all to say, things seemed to be going well!
However, the perfect pair have cast doubt upon their romance in recent months. Rumours of a split beginning to circulate back in June, when Sabrina was asked in an interview with Rolling Stone if she referred to Barry as her boyfriend. “How do I skirt around this question?” she replied.
She continued: “The [dating] pool is the pool, and when you meet people that feel authentic and are so brilliant and amazing in every way, that’s what you do. Obviously, I write songs about exactly how I feel, so I guess I can’t be so surprised that people are interested in who and what those songs are about. That’s something that comes with the territory.”
Fans were torn as to whether this meant their relationship was undefined, or if things were over between them.
Are Sabrina & Barry Still Together?
On August 16, celebrity gossip source, Deuxmoi reported that (*gasps*) Sabrina Carpenter, 25, and Barry Keoghan, 31, had gone their seperate ways.
However, the actor seemingly quashed the speculation just hours later, liking a sultry snap Sabrina had posted to Instagram.
A source has since confirmed to People that Sabrina and Barry’s relationship is “on and off.” Did someone say situationship? (Stars, they’re just like us!)
Currently, it seems the pair are ON. On August 29, Sabrina made an Instagram post announcing her surprise song ‘Busy Woman’—from her “ovulation” album, Short ‘n Sweet. Barry made a very public declaration of support, commenting, “Let’s feckin go!! 🔥🥵”
How Did Sabrina & Barry Meet?
Sabrina Carpenter and Barry Keoghan reportedly crossed paths at Paris Fashion Week in early October, 2023. They first sparked dating rumours when they were spotted on a dinner date in Los Angeles two months later.
The pair went public with the romance when they posed for a photo together at a Grammy Awards afterparty in February. They were later snapped together at the Oscars afterparty and Met Gala in March and May, respectively.
