Sabrina Carpenter and Barry Keoghan became an instant it-couple when they first sparked dating rumours back in December 2023.
At the time, the Irish actor was fresh off the success of Saltburn and the songstress, who was yet to release her #1 single ‘Espresso,’ was touring with Taylor Swift. Naturally—after they beat the PR relationship rumours—the revelation that two of Hollywood’s hottest stars-on-the-rise were coupled up sent the internet into a frenzy.
As their respective profiles have grown throughout 2024, their relationship has seemingly blossomed, with joint appearances at the Vanity Fair Oscars After Party and the Met Gala all but confirming that things were going smoothly. Barry also starred in the music video for Sabrina’s hit track Please Please Please, which premiered on June 7 and saw her please, “I beg you, don’t embarrass me motherf*cker.” That’s all to say, things seemed to be going well!
However, rumours of a split beginning to circulate back in June, when Sabrina was asked in an interview with Rolling Stone if she referred to Barry as her boyfriend. “How do I skirt around this question?” she replied.
She continued: “The [dating] pool is the pool, and when you meet people that feel authentic and are so brilliant and amazing in every way, that’s what you do. Obviously, I write songs about exactly how I feel, so I guess I can’t be so surprised that people are interested in who and what those songs are about. That’s something that comes with the territory.”
Fans were torn as to whether this meant their relationship was undefined, or if things were over between them.
Now, a whole (short ‘n sweet) year after they were first spotted together, they have reportedly called it quits… and, according to a murky Deuxmoi tipster, the split could have been a little bit messy.

On December 3, People reported that the pair have called time on their year-long romance. An insider told the outlet, “They are both young and career-focused, so they’ve decided to take a break.”
Did Barry Keoghan Cheat on Sabrina Carpenter?
As if the news of Barry and Sabrina’s supposed split wasn’t sad enough, an anonymous tipster took to gossip blog Deuxmoi to add to the tale.
A day before People reported on their split, Deuxmoi published a tip with the title “The cute boy with the thick accent proved them right,” referencing Sabrina’s songs ‘Bed Chem’ and ‘Please Please Please,’ which are thought to be about Barry.
The blind item claimed that an “A-list singer” and “her foreign actor boyfriend” had broken up. The source alleged they had split after she found he’d been exchanging “not-innocent-at-all” texts with “a blonde, semi-famous LA-based influencer (who’s particularly big on TikTok).”
The claims remained out in the ether of the internet for a few days before any parties spoke to them.
Who Is Breckie Hill?
Breckie Hill is a TikTok and Onlyfans creator who some TikTokers hypothesised was the woman Barry was allegedly messaging prior to his split from Sabrina.
Why do they think this? Well, Breckie reportedly reposted two TikToks (below) that seemingly claimed she was the mystery gal. Despite some users taking this as a sign she was, in fact, involved, the truth is kind of the opposite.
Breckie took to TikTok on the weekend to quash rumours she was connected to Barry once and for all.
“To put it simply for you all, no, I did not get with Barry,” Breckie said in a video. “I have never even encountered this man in my life. The only time I’ve seen him is on my TV screen from watching Saltburn.”
So why. did she repost the videos? Because she thought they were “so ridiculous.”
“I’m sorry, but if I really was the one getting with Barry, why in the world would I be reposting that?” she said.
“Coming from someone who has been cheated on in several relationships, I would never want to homewreck any relationship or put any girl through that pain. Ever. Ever.”
What Has Barry Said?
While Sabrina is yet to comment on the split, Barry released a statement via X asking people to “be respectful” during this time. The actor did not confirm or mention his break up from Sabrina, but detailed the vitriol he’d been met with in the past week.
“I can only sit and take so much. My name has been dragged across the internet in ways that I don’t usually respond to. I have to respond now because it’s getting to a place where there are too many lines being crossed,” Barry wrote on the app.
“Absolute lies, hatred, disgusting commentary about my appearance, character, how I am as a parent, and every other inhumane thing you can imagine. Dragging my character and everything I worked extremely hard for and stand for.”
The 32-year-old went on to mention some of the abhorrent behaviour he and his family have been subjected to since.
“Talking about how I was a heroin baby and how I grew up and dragging my dear mother into it also. Knocking on my grannies door,” he wrote, adding “Sitting outside my baby boys house intimidating them.”
