Tate McRae and The Kid LAROI are the celebrity couple you can’t help but root for. The Gen Z superstars have been making headlines since early 2024, with sneaky selfies and date night pap shots all-but-confirming a blossoming romance.

January 2024: Tate seemingly wears LAROI's shirt in an Instagram snap
Buzz of a romance between Tate and LAROI emerged thanks to a shirt. Back in January, the Canadian pop star posted a photo dump to Instagram from her trip to Mexio. In the first snap of the carousel, she wore a shirt that looked very similar to a top LAROI had been wearing previously.
Further fuelling speculation, LAROI commented with a sunglasses emoji on the snap.
Over the next few weeks, they were photographed out to dinner together a few times.
February 2024: Tate and LAROI hold hands at the NHL
After being papped on date night, Tate and LAROI soft-launched at the NFL All-Star game in February.
Tate, who performed during the intermission and served as a celebrity captain at the event, was filmed holding hands with LAROI while the pair made their way through the venue.
That same month, they were seen on another dinner date and photographed alongside Justin and Hailey Bieber—friends of LAROI’s—at a Super Bowl party.
April 2024: Tate praises LAROI on the red carpet
On the iHeartRadio Music Awards red carpet on April 1, 2024, Tate caught up with Billboard to chat about her eagerly anticipated tour, her smash hit ‘Greedy,’ and what it’s like for her to be compared to Britney Spears. But it was the last question that really got attention: “Would you ever do a song with The Kid LAROI?”
Before she could even formulate a response, Tate got the giggles. She playfully hid her face before admitting, “I don’t know.” After a brief pause, she added with a grin, “Yeah, maybe. He’s amazing.”

April 2024: LAROI appears to call Tate his girlfriend
Two weeks after the iHeart Radio Awards, LAROI was performing in Dublin.
During the concert, he told the crowd, “I need everybody in here to sing this as loud as they can because my girlfriend’s here tonight and I don’t want to look lame.”
“If you guys don’t sing this really loud…,” LAROI added. “It’s going to embarrass me.”
Attendees later shared videos of Tate watching the show from backstage—so she was definitely there!
July 2024: It's Insta official!
LAROI made things Instagram official in July, celebrating Tate’s 21st birthday by posting a photo of the pair kissing on his Stories.
“happy 21st birthday 🥲❤️,” he wrote. “you make me better! I love yoooouuu @tatemcrae.”
August 2024: Tate celebrates LAROI's birthday
tate returned the favour a month later, celebrating LAROI’s birthday with a post of her own.
“Birthday boyyyyyy” she wrote on her Instagram Stories, alongside a sweet video of the two of them dancing and sharing a kiss.
“@thekidlaroi i love you soooooo much <3 so grateful for u,” she added.
LAROI reposted the video on his own Instagram Stories, writing, “🥺🥺🥺.”
August 2024: The pair sing on stage together
If their relationship wasn’;t already confirmed, Tate and LAROI sealed the deal in late August, when he joined her on-stage at her show in Madison Square Garden.
Tate brought the Aussie musician out for a rendition of his hit song ‘Without You’. In videos captured of the sweet moment, she told the crowd it was their “first time singing together.”
“I’m so proud of you, and you have so many people in here that love you. I’m one of them,” LAROI told Tate at the song’s close. They also shared a kiss on-stage and were spotted out together in NYC after the show.
September 2024: The pair holiday together in Bora Bora
In early September, LAROI shared a “rare instagram post life update” in the form of a carousel of images.
The pictures were all taken on vacation in Bora Bora. This was a holiday he went on with Tate, which we know because she featured in the wrap-up!
September 2024: They attend the VMAs together(ish)
Tate and LAROI both attended the 2024 VMAs and while they didn’t walk the red carpet together, they were photographed sitting together during the event.
LAROI also showed support for Tate in an interview with Billboard on the red carpet. LAROI told the interviewer he doesn’t usually enjoy awards shows but was coming into the VMAs with an “insane mindset.”
“I’m here supporting my girlfriend and hanging out,” he said. “I’m not nominated for anything, which is cool, there’s no pressure.”

Who is Tate McRae?
Tate McRae is a 21-year-old singer and dancer hailing from Canada. She entered the spotlight when she was just 13 and became one of the finalists on the American reality show, So You Think You Can Dance.
She started posting videos of her writing and recording music to YouTube in 2017. She found a viral hit in her track ‘One Day,’ which garnered the attention of record labels and landed her a deal with RCA in 2019.
She’s since ascended the pop ranks thanks to hits like ‘Greedy’ and ‘You Broke Me First’.
Prior to LAROI, Tate dated Jonny Hader from 2019-2021, and NHL player Cole Sillinger from around 2021-early 2023.
Who is The Kid LAROI?
The Kid LAROI is one of Australia’s most famous musical exports. The rapper and singer is a proud Kamilaroi man (which is where he gets his stage name), and started his career as a teenager posting songs to SoundCloud.
He released his debut EP, 14 with a Dream, the day before his 15th birthday. The body of work captured the attention of the late rapper Juice WRLD, who became a mentor.
LAROI’s ascent was rapid, with the his track ‘Addison Rae’ going viral and his collab with Justin Bieber, ‘Stay’ grabbing mainstream success.
Prior to Tate, he dated influencer Katarina Deme from 2020-2023. Katarina featured in LAROI’s 2024 Prime documentary, Kids Are Growing Up: A Story About A Kid Named LAROI, which was filmed prior to their split.
