It’s been a big year for So You Think You Can Dance alum and burgeoning pop princess Tate McRae. Not only has the musician-slash-dancer released her third studio album and hard-launched her relationship with The Kid Laroi, but she’s taken over airwaves and grabbed the attention of the public and industry folk alike.
Naturally, she’s at the point in her career where her featuring on another artist’s song is sure to add buzz to its release. Unfortunately, fans are less than pleased with the songstress’ upcoming collab.
Per The Cut, according to a press release sent out yesterday, McRae has been confirmed as a collaborator on Morgan Wallen’s upcoming album, I’m the Problem.
Wallen recently revealed on X that the LP would feature his first recorded duet with a female artist. While that post could refer to… literally anyone, fans started speculating the “Sports Car” singer was involved after she posted an Instagram Story wearing an orange jersey emblazoned with her moniker (“T8”) alongside an “MW” logo. It’s since been confirmed that the pair’s collab will be titled “What I Want.”
Who Is Morgan Wallen?
For the unacquainted, Morgan Wallen is a country music star from Sneedville, Tennessee, who rose to fame after competing on The Voice. He has won a slew of Country Music Awards and has been recognised at the iHeart Radio and Billboard Music Awards, too.
You may recognise his name a from a recent debacle where he seemingly walked off the set of Saturday Night Live (on which he had been the night’s musical guest), before making a social media post that spurred all those “Get me to God’s country” memes.

Why Is Morgan Wallen Controversial?
The SNL walk-off was far from the country star’s first controversy.
Wallen was caught on camera using a racial slur back in 2021, and was filmed partying mask-less with college students during the Covid-19 pandemic the year prior. He’s also been arrested twice for “disorderly conduct”.

At the time of writing, neither Tate nor Morgan has addressed the backlash to their joint song.
