Remember those conspiracy theories than Taylor Swift was a novelist? ICYMI: Theories emerged online that Taylor had been writing under the pen name Elly Conway, who is the author of Argylle—the yet-to-be-released novel that inspired the already-released Dua Lipa-fronted spy thriller. We digress… that goss turned out to be totally untrue, as far as we know.
However, the rumours that Taylor is releasing a book may still have some weight to them.
Yep, she hasn’t even wrapped up the Eras Tour yet and, if new reports are to be believed, the superstar is already onto her next project. Sounds about right!
Did Taylor Swift Write a Book?
Back in 2015, Taylor Swift revealed in an interview with GQ that she had written an entire book when she was a teenager.
The novel was called A Girl Named Girl, and “about a mother who wants a son but instead has a girl.”
Taylor explained in 2012 that she wrote it before her career exploded: “All my friends were back in Pennsylvania, so I had nothing to do…I had this epiphany; I’m going to be a novelist and I’m going to write novels. That’s going to be my career path.”
Per MailOnline, Taylor trademarked the name and rights to her debut novel back in 2015, the same year she opened up about it, but never ended up releasing the text. The outlet also reports that the draft was believed to be in the care of Taylor’s parents, where is has seemingly remained for the past decade.
Sooo... Is A Girl Called Girl Being Released?
Speculation that Taylor would be releasing her novel has been swirling for years however, nothing has ever been brought to market.
In good news for Swifties, we could finally be one step closer to getting our hands on A Girl Called Girl.
The Sun reports that Taylor has filed a new trademark for the novel, which “covers merchandise for the book, as well as audio versions.”
Camp Taylor has not yet confirmed whether the superstar is releasing anything—but we best be keeping an eye out for any Easter Eggs.
The real question is whether this will arrive before Reputation: Taylor’s Version. We’ll have to wait and see!
