Big Brother is back, baby!

What is Big Brother?
Big Brother is a social experiment reality show where approximately 15 strangers are put into a house to live together with zero contact with the outside world. The contestants are referred to as ‘housemates’, and they all have differing personalities, lifestyles, age demographics etc.
The conditions of their living environment—like which foods and amenities they get access to—are often dictated by the results of games and challenges the housemates participate in. Each week they nominate each other to be evicted by public vote. The last person remaining will take home a large cash prize, while the others leave empty-handed.
Who is the Host of Big Brother Australia?
The reality show, which was previously hosted by Sophie Monk (who is due to host Love Island Australia 2024), will be revamped with a lead for its next iteration. Mel Tracina, who is best known for her role as the resident cultural correspondent on The Cheap Seats—another popular Network 10 show—will helm Big Brother Australia’s next season.
“I was one of the millions of Aussies captivated by Big Brother when it launched on Channel 10 in the early noughties,” Mel has shared. “The show has such a loyal and passionate fan base, and I am excited to help bring back the show’s original spirit (minus the flip phones and bum dancing).”
When chatting to Daily Mail Australia, Mel teased that this new season will put a spin on how viewers can watch and perceive the new housemates in their not-so-natural habitat. In addition to live nominations and live evictions, the new season will be live-streamed 24/7.
She explained, “What’s so good about this is the live stream element, So you don’t have to worry about getting a bad edit or being the ‘season villain’, because viewers can log in at any time and see what the [housemates] are up to.”
