Dearest Gentle Reader… we have known for some time that Bridgerton was locked in for a fourth season. After much speculation, in July 2024 the Netflix gods finally announced that the series’ next chapter will focus on everyone’s favourite playboy, Benedict Bridgerton.
Only a month later, the streamer revealed that they have cast the season’s leading lady and—three cheers, please—she’s Australian.
So, grab your gloves, lace your corsets and get ready for another romp around the ‘Ton. Scroll on for everything we know about Bridgerton Season 4 so far.
Which Sibling Is Bridgerton Season 4 About?
Ahead of Netflix’s announcement, fans were divided as to which sibling the streamer would focus on for Bridgerton Season 4.
Seasons 1 and 2 followed the anthology of Julia Quinn’s novels, which the series is based on, telling the stories of Daphne and Anthony, respectfully. However, where the third book focuses on Benedict, showrunners instead went with the story of Colin Bridgerton (and his love, Penelope Featherington) for Season 3 of the show.
Season 3 also opened up room for both Eloise and Francesca (who star in Quinn’s fifth and sixth books, respectively) to take centre stage.
However, in a press release in July 2024, following the end of #Polin’s standout season, Netflix confirmed that Bridgerton Season 4 would belong to Benedict.
Will Bridgerton Season 4 Stay True To the Books?
Given writers have deviated from several of the novels’ storylines—including Benedicts (fun fact: Lady Tilley Arnold was a Netflix addition)—fans of Quinn’s books may be wondering how closely Season 4 will follow the source material.
While we don’t know exactly what plot points will stay and go, we do know that Benedict’s love interest from the books will come to life on-screen.
In the third of Quinn’s stories, An Offer From A Gentleman, Benedict falls for a woman named Sophie Becket. Sophie is a Cinderalla type—the daughter of an Earl and his maid, who passed away, Sophie grows up with her stepmother and step sisters. She catches Benedict’s eye at one of his mother, Violet Bridgerton’s masquerade balls.
The streamer has already found its leading lady for the season! Scroll on to meet her.
Bridgerton Season 4 Cast
Luke Thompson will return as Benedict Bridgerton for the show’s fourth season, having played the character in all seasons so far.
Who will play Sophie Beckett?
Variety announced that Luke will be joined by series newcomer, Yerin Ha, who will play Sophie. In a win for the Aussies, Yerin was born Down Under, and raised between Australia and South Korea.
If the 29-year-old looks familiar, it might be thanks to her previous roles in Halo, Dune: Prophecy and Bad Behaviour. Bridgerton has a habit of making g big names of its stars, too—so we’ll surely be seeing Yerin’s face on-screen plenty more after the series’ release.
Who else from the OG cast will be back?
Alongside Luke, we can expect several members of the namesake family to be back for Bridgerton Season 4. These include Ruth Gemmel as the family matriarch, Claudia Jessie as Eloise, Florence Hunt as Hyacinth and Will Tilston as Gregory.
Given her character was off to frolic in the Scottish countryside at the end of of Season 3, it’s unclear if Hannah Dodd (aka Francesca Bridgerton) will feature in Season 4. Regardless, she’ll no doubt be back in future for her character’s dedicated season.
It’s likely that Golda Rosheuvel and Adjoa Andoh will reprise their roles as Queen Charlotte and Lady Danbury, respectively.
What About the Bridgerton siblings who have had their seasons?
Luke Newton and Nicola Coughlan, who starred in Season 3 as Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington, have confirmed that they will be back to share Polin’s happily ever after in Season 4.
Anthony Bailey has said he will reprise his role as Anthony Bridgerton—so we can likely expect Simone Ashley, who plays his wife Kate, to be back as well (although, she is yet to confirm).
Given she sat out Season 3, it doesn’t appear that the original star, Phoebe Dynover (aka Daphne Bridgerton) will make a cameo in Season 4. Rege Jean-Page, who played her on-screen husband, Simone, has previously confirmed he is totally done with the show (*insert sad face here*).
Bridgerton Season 4 Release Date
Unfortunately, Lady Whistledown (aka Netflix) is yet to inform us of a release fate for Bridgerton Season 4. Given scripts are reportedly still being written and filming is yet to begin, it would likely be a late 2025 release at the very earliest (*insert another sad face*).
In the meantime, binge the show’ three seasons, plus the spin-off, Queen Charlotte, on Netflix now.
