Alert the coven! All your favourite Hollywood it-girls are teaming up for a new, witchy film.

IFC Films and the horror streamer Shudder have acquired the project, titled Forbidden Fruits, which is an adaptation of Lily Houghton’s play Of the Women Came the Beginning of Sin, and Through Her We All Die.

The story follows a young woman at the centre of a femme cult. If you weren’t already sold, the project has tapped a litany of Gen Z cool girls for its cast, including YouTuber Emma Chamberlain, who will make her acting debut in the film.

Scroll on for more deets on the plot, as well as who else has been cast.

What Is Forbidden Fruits About?

Given its based on the play by Houghton (who is also a co-writer of the film), we can look there for some clues as to Forbidden Fruits’ plot.

The play explores the complexities of expressing femininity in times of sociopolitical turmoil.

According to various reports, the film follows  a retail employee named Apple, who secretly runs a cult in the basement of the store after hours. Apple has enlisted colleagues, Cherry and Fig as her followers—but everything is shaken up when a new hire, Pumpkin, infiltrates their circle.

Intriguing, to say the least.
