Oh, you thought House of the Dragon was it? Boy, do we have news for you. After a long three-year wait since the series was first teased, HBO has finally confirmed that *another* new Game of Thrones prequel, titled A Knight of Seven Kingdoms, will be hitting our screens later this year!!!
Teasing a first taste of the new instalment, author of the book franchise the the cult series is based on, George R.R. Martin, told Collider, “It’s a little softer. It’s a little more humourous [than Game of Thrones]. I hope the audience will be open to that kind of change.” Well, George, if the new spin-off has even an ounce of the same entertainment and action as its widely-acclaimed counterparts, then its safe to say we are well and truly open to it!
Now that the countdown to the season premiere is *officially* on, keep reading for everything you need to know about A Knight of Seven Kingdoms.
What the Plot Of A Knight of Seven Kingdoms ?
While all the deets are still under wraps, it’s hard to tell how similar the franchise adaptation will be to the original book. Per the show’s official logline, A Knight of Seven Kingdoms will be set 100 years before the events of GOT and will follow “a young, naïve but courageous knight, Ser Duncan the Tall, and his diminutive squire, Egg. (Aegon Targaryen).”
Further, the logline states, “Set in an age when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne and the memory of the last dragon has not yet passed from living memory, great destinies, powerful foes, and dangerous exploits all await these improbable and incomparable friends.”
Judging from George R.R. Martin’s Tales of Dunk and Egg series, we can also gather that this new GOT franchise addition will continue on from House of the Dragon, with A Knight of Seven Kingdoms set to be timed 72 years after the reign of Aegon II.

A Knight of Seven Kingdoms Cast
Without an official cast list or series teaser in our grasp just yet, all we can really tell you for now is that Irish actor Peter Claffey and Dexter Sol Ansell (AKA a child Coriolaneous Snow from Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes) are locked in to portray Dunk and Egg.
Deadline has spilt a few beans recently, dropping that Finn Bennett from True Detective: Night Country, Bertie Carvel of The Crown, Tanzyn Crawford from Tiny Beautiful Things, Daniel Ings from The Gentlemen, and Sam Spruell from Fargo will be in the new show, however, we don’t know to what extent. Finn is set to play Aerion Targaryen, Bertie as Baelor Targaryen, Tanzyn as Tanselle, Dabiel as Ser Lyonel Baratheon, and Sam as Maekar Targaryen, per the outlet.
When Will A Knight of Seven Kingdoms Premiere?
After an excruciating three-year wait since the spin-off was first teased, we know that A Knight of Seven Kingdoms began production in June 2024, finishing up in September of that same year. In light of this, The Hollywood Reporter shared that the six-episode series is set to drop in late 2025!
