Good news: Greta Gerwig is locking into another directorial role, following her knock-out success with 2023’s Barbie, starring Aussie angel, Margot Robbie. This time, an oldie but a goodie is set to be met with Greta’s movie magic, as she’s been tapped to helm a new Narnia film.
Although little has been shared about the movie, it has just been announced that Emma Mackey will take on the wonderful role of the White Witch in the new film, with a few other major names having been thrown around for roles, too.
Who's Rumoured To Be In the Cast Of Narnia?
Thus far, a few big names have been attached to the new movie’s chronicle-esque cast. Deadline was the first to report that Emma Mackey will be joining the cast as the White Witch, accompanied by Daniel Craig as the uncle of Digory Kirke, and Meryl Streep coming aboard the project as lion Aslan the Great.
As far as the main characters go, the OG film follows the story of several children in their pre-teens, so chances are the roles may be portrayed by actors we haven’t seen on screen yet!
On another note, a different casting rumour had been circulating that Louis Partridge — doting boyfriend to Olivia Rodrigo — had secured himself a coveted role in the film, according to TOI. However, shortly after the news was reported, Netflix shut down the rumours, so we’re back in the dark unfortunately.
Deadline also reported there was speculation Charli XCX could be taking on the role of Jadis, the White Witch — and even with the role now filled, we wouldn’t put it past Greta to get Charli on board for a cheeky cameo as a smaller side character.
Despite her obvious talent on the mic, Charli has been known to dabble in the acting field, having made an appearance in an episode of HBO’s Gossip Girl reboot.
However, the “Guess” singer doesn’t come to play when she sets her sights on a new passion. As per her lively IMDb profile, little miss brat is booked and busy, set to star in several projects over this next year, including a role alongside Olivia Wilde in the exciting new film, I Want Your Sex.
