It underscored the star of Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie and Leonardo DiCaprio, and launched the likes of Sydney Sweeney, Mikey Madison and Margaret Qualley into the eye of Hollywood; now, a (sort of) sequel to Quentin Tarantino’s award-winning Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is on its way!
While Tarantino is still penning the script, the directing role is being handed over to David Fincher. Fincher worked with Pitt — who is due to reprise his role for the sequel — on the cult 1999 film Fight Club.
We don’t have a title yet but we have little doubt this will be an iconic production.
Sony produced the original film, however, Variety reports that Tarantino organised a deal whereby he would end up with the copyright, therefore the IP and/or rights may very well be privately owned with Tarantino today. That is how the film could be taken on by Netflix, which is what is reportedly set to happen.
Tarantino has previously said that the next film he directs will be his last. While the sequel to Once Upon a Time in Hollywood may not be his swan song, we will be keeping our eyes out for what could be in the works for the acclaimed director.
The sequel comes after Tarantino reportedly canned what was *actually* set to be his final feature film, The Movie Critic. It was reported that Pitt had been cast as the lead and the script had been written — however Tarantino decided to scrap the movie all together.
While Netflix, Fincher nor Pitt have commented on the project at the time of writing, it has been confirmed to b e in the works by industry publications including Variety and Deadline. on for everything else we know about the project so far.

Who is David Fincher?
Responsible for directing some of the most iconic and critically acclaimed movies of our time, Fincher is one of the most high-profile directors in Hollywood. From Fight Club to Gone Girl to The Social Network, Fincher has worked with the best of the best in Hollywood to produce some of the most iconic movies of our generation.
Whos' In the Cast?
Brad Pitt is reportedly set to reprise his role of the stuntman Cliff Booth, a role that won him the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor in 2020. Fincher and Pitt have famously worked together before on Fight Club, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and Se7en.
It seems much less likely that Margot Robbie or Leonardo DiCaprio will reprise their roles, however other cast announcements are yet to be made.
When Will the Sequel Be Released?
With the title of the film still yet to be released, along with casting announcements, it seems like we might be waiting a while to see Pitt as Cliff Booth on our screens again.
