Despite the anticipation of an official renewal announcement, the news doesn’t come as a shock following the show’s award nominations for their prior seasons! Only Murders In The Building most recently snagged the SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series, and series gem Martin Short won Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series — we weren’t surprised.
When we reflect on the starry surprise guests that have previously appeared in the show, in conjunction with their wickedly entertaining writing, season 5 should be another binge-worthy watch.
Who Will Be New To the Cast In Season 5?
Renée Zellweger is in the building! The Academy Award winning actress has officially joined the cast for the upcoming season, alongside with Christoph Waltz,
Hulu is remaining tight-lipped about Renée’s role, but they have confirmed that she’s locked in to be a recurring guest star. Christoph, similarly praised for his incredible performances, is confirmed to shake up the shows as we know it.
The comedy certainly won’t be lacking this coming season, as Keegan-Michael Key is also on board to bring the laughs.
Of course, the building’s OG trifecta, Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez, will reprise their roles — plus, Téa Leoni will also return to play mob wife Sofia Caccimelio, whose character may play a pivotal part in S5’s storyline!

While the ins and outs are being kept confidential, what we do know is that we were left on quite the cliffhanger during the season 4 finale. When we last saw the gang together, Lester, the doorman (Teddy Coluca), was killed in the courtyard fountain, setting up the new season with another exciting unsolved murder!
