Audience-magnet series Yellowstone might have drawn to a close last year (or so we thought) but it appears the ride isn’t over *just* yet. News that Yellowstone will continue to expand in the form of new spinoffs has been indirectly confirmed — with two already on the way!

Set to keep following the show’s iconic characters, Taylor Sheridan’s neo-Western television phenomenon has been a mega-hit with audiences for the greater part of a decade now, keeping us hooked with all the explosive Dutton family drama as they fight to protect their inherited family ranch from ruthless land developers.

Although Yellowstone is no stranger to a spin-off, these two new series will undergo a pretty significant procedural change that will shift the way fans receive the new content, progressing the series into a dynamic new era. Read on for what we know so far about the latest developments in the Yellowstone universe.

Will There Be A New Yellowstone Spin-Off?

Try two of them! A Beth and Rip Yellowstone story is set to be in the works, alongside an exciting new Kayce Dutton-led series that delves deeper into his storyline post-season 5.

As of publication, Paramount Network is yet to officially confirm the Beth and Rip show. However, the leading actress herself, Kelly Reilly, did reveal to fans that the series is coming after commenting the word “True” on an Instagram post asking if a Beth-focused spin-off was happening.

On the Kayce side of things, Variety  reports that CBS is currently in early discussions for a procedural series pioneered by Luke Grimes’ former Navy SEAL-turned-livestock commissioner and fellow family rancher. Plot details are yet to be shared, with the source at Variety disclosing that “no deals are believed to be in place at this time.”

Luke previously told Esquire that “there’s always talks of spin-offs,” despite admittedly not being exactly sure of what direction his character would go off the back of season 5’s finale. He explained, “Kayce wants to cowboy and be happy with his family. He doesn’t want to kill people anymore. He doesn’t want the weight of a huge mega ranch that isn’t sustainable in today’s times. He wants his little slice of heaven. It’s that simple.”

Who Will Be Cast In The Yellowstone Spin-Off's?

In December 2024, Deadline revealed Taylor Sheridan was indeed cooking a Beth and Rip “off-shoot,” and “It’ll likely feature other cast members from the mothership series alongside Reilly and Hauser, I hear,.”.

“Led by Yellowstone characters played by the same actors in the same present-day time frame, the new offshoot shares the most DNA with the mothership of any shows in the Yellowstone universe to date, which explains why it will be the first spinoff to carry Yellowstone in the title,” the outlet reported.

By this account, we expect to see most OG characters reprising their roles for the indirect series continuation, despite no official cast list announcements being made for either spin-off just yet.

What Changes Will The Yellowstone Series Undergo?

Following the recent reports that show creator Taylor Sheridan is honing in on the spin-off side of things, further information has come out that these coming series are being created for CBS, making them the first additions to the beloved franchise to be developed for network television not exclusively for their previous streaming giant, Paramount+.

What Time Period Will the Spin-Offs Be Set In?

If the Kayce Dutton series gets the greenlight, then the new instalment will be concurrent with Beth and Rip’s forthcoming spinoff, meaning the two new series additions will mark a first in Yellowstone‘s comprehensive franchise history, as two shows have never taken place at the same time before.

Yes, Yellowstone does indeed already have a couple individual series under its banner, but each one has been set in a distinctly different period in history. For those who may not be across Yellowstone’s time jumps, the original series takes place in the modern day, beginning in 2018 and ending in 2024 as of season 5. The first spinoff, entitled 1883, was a prequel miniseries that followed the Duttons as they first arrived on their generational family ranch. The second series, 1923, gave insight into the Dutton family in pre-Great Depression Montana.

Now, Yellowstone‘s supposed spinoffs are said to both lift off where we left things in season 5, placing them in  2024 or potentially 2025.

When & Where To Watch Yellowstone & Its Spin-Offs In Australia?

Given both spin-offs remain untitled, unconfirmed by the network, and incredibly ambiguous — any guess around premiere dates would be a long shot. Based on previous production schedules of earlier seasons, we do however think it’s very possible that an air date could be announced for November, December time this year.

Along with the already available to stream Yellowstone series on Stan, we’re holding out hope that Aussie viewers will be able to access the spin-offs via the same platform, but these details are too, still TBD.
