Beare Park’s outing at Australian Fashion Week (AFW) 2025 was a masterclass in modern luxury: understated, precise, and quietly confident.

The label’s runway, held on the second day of AFW at Sydney’s Carriageworks, was one of the week’s buzziest. With sharp tailoring, luxe natural fibres, and a strong commitment to local production, Beare Park is proof you don’t need bold prints, gimmicks or trends to make an impact — just great design and stunning silhouettes, beautifully executed.

This season, creative director Gabriella Pereira drew inspiration from Paris, where the collection began to take shape during a fabric sourcing trip in February. What emerged was a body of work with purpose and endurance — tailored silhouettes rendered in wool twill and fluid silks, designed to be worn and re-worn. It’s a continuation of Beare Park’s mission: to create heirloom pieces that blend minimalism with technical precision.

Against a backdrop of fast fashion cycles and digital noise, Beare Park is quietly building a legacy rooted in quality and longevity. Ahead of the show, Pereira spoke with Cosmopolitan Australia about her process, her vision for the brand, and why Australian fashion’s future might just depend on looking inward.

Q&A with Gabriella Pereira

Cosmopolitan: What was your starting point for this collection?

Gabriella Pereira: “I started this collection while travelling in Paris in February. While there, I attended an annual global fabric fair and was able to meet with our mills face-to-face – a rare luxury when you’re based in Sydney. I’d spend days walking and people-watching, then sketching designs with the textures of Italian, French, and Japanese fabrics still fresh in my mind. Paris has this way of feeding your creativity without you even realising.”

Cosmo: Can you describe the story or collection you wanted to capture in these pieces?

GP: “I wanted to create classic wardrobe heirloom pieces that hold real longevity. That’s always been the heart of Beare Park. I want each collection to feel like it could live in someone’s wardrobe for decades.”

Cosmo: How does the Australian environment shape your design, in both a practical and aesthetic sense?

GP: “Australia’s climate and lifestyle absolutely inform the way I design. Natural fibres are essential for our extreme seasons, and I’m deeply inspired by our resource in Merino wool – it’s something I’m proud to champion. But beyond the climate, it’s the way Australians dress. There’s this effortless ease in how we style ourselves, like pairing a sharply tailored suit with minimalist sandals. That’s the energy I love: polished, but never trying too hard.”

Cosmo: How do you want people to feel when they wear your pieces?

GP: “A good day always starts with a good outfit. I want people to feel confident and comfortable – that’s the sweet spot for me. There’s nothing more powerful than feeling like yourself, fully, in what you’re wearing.”

Cosmo: Is there one piece in this collection that is especially meaningful to you and why?

GP: “There’s an oversized double-breasted coat in 100 percent wool twill that’s truly the coat of my dreams. It’s classic but with the kind of subtle detailing that makes all the difference. We sourced the fabric from a family-owned mill in Melbourne, and it’s made by local tailors in Sydney. It’s a piece I know I’ll wear for years – and styling it with Chopard’s L’Heure du Diamant over the sleeves was a real “pinch me” moment.”

Cosmo: Looking ahead, what do you think the future of Australian fashion looks like?

GP: “I’m hopeful. As awareness grows around our declining local garment manufacturing industry, I truly believe there’s potential for revival. The demand for locally made luxury pieces is rising, and it’s exciting to see that energy around Beare Park. With the right support, we could see real growth, and I’d love to be part of that future.”

final thoughts

From the streets of Paris to the shores of Sydney, Beare Park continues to blur the line between tailoring and tenderness. And in a world that’s rushing headlong into the next trend, this collection reminds us to stop, breathe, and dress like we mean it.
