Last year, the New York Times dubbed Morgan Riddle the “most famous woman in men’s tennis.” That’s a big label for a small-town girl from Minnesota—but, as Morgan has proven time and time again, not one that’s undeserved.

The American content creator is continuing to elevate her approach to style, intersecting the realm of fashion with the professional sporting industry to the highest degree.

Off the back of a very eventful Australian Open—where she supported boyfriend, Taylor Fritz—we caught up with Morgan to chat about all things summer style and her go-to pieces for constructing a court-side fit.

Did growing up in Minnesota and spending your young adult years in New York City have much of an impact on your sense of style?

Minnesota not so much. I did always love dressing up but definitely fell into the basic leggings/north face/ugg combo for quite a few years and didn’t really find my personal sense of style until I was interning in New York. I did a number of internships in the city and being in fashion PR offices opened me up into a whole new world fashion-wise.

Are there any fashion trends ATM that you approve of?

I think Australia has different trends in roaming right now than the US does, especially because there are so many smaller labels here. I did some in-person shopping in Sydney last week (also something that is not super common in the US as we lean towards shopping online). Some things I saw a are lot of flip-flop heels, neutral colours, sporty sneakers and oversized button-up shirts. State-side, resort collections have just been released and I’m loving Thom Browne.

"Really fun colours, patterns, and proportion play."

What is your go-to court-side fit?

My outfits for the Australian Open are usually super colorful because I love to embrace the summer vibes here. I am almost always in skirts and dresses.

Tennis and fashion are linked in many ways—how has the sport shaped your personal style?

The tour awards us the privilege of getting to travel to so many different places – Tokyo, London, Shanghai, Paris… being able to experience fashion and fashion in sport from such an international perspective has introduced me to so many designers and trends I would have otherwise never heard of. I’ve enjoyed getting to dress up for matches for the last 5 years!

Is there anyone in particular you turn for style inspiration?

Not really honestly. I like to read show reviews.

On your Instagram we can see that you’ve been spending a bit of time Down Under recently—what are your thoughts on street style in Australia compared to back home in the US?

Much more casual. There is definitely a very particular look a lot of the Australian brands have.

Considering your busy schedule, how do you make time to prioritise yourself—what do you do to relax and maintain a balance?

Outdoor walk every morning! I also use ClassPass to book workout classes anywhere. Physical activity is really important for me for my “me” time.

Do you have any fashion-related goals you want to accomplish in the next 5 years?

Attend the MET Gala! Shooting high.
