Timothée Chalamet really is a man about town…
Now that the Bob Dylan biopic, A Complete Unknown has finished filming—starving us of pap pics of the actor in costume—the young star has been forced to find other ways to make headlines. And boy, has he succeeded.
On October 27, right in the heart of New York City, a Timothée Chalamet event underway. Described as an all-out celebration of Timothée, and aptly dubbed ‘Chalamania,’ the event was organised to bring fans together and spotlight the actor’s cultural impact and unique charm.
Held in the heart of NYC, the event also included a lookalike competition and invited fans from all walks of life to channel their inner “Timmy“ and embody his most iconic looks—from red carpet suits to his signature beanies and streetwear, for a chance to win a US$50 prize.
Unfortunately for most of the entrants, they stood absolutely zero chance of winning because who should turn up but the real deal!
Swarmed by bodyguards, Timmy entered the event and briefly posed for photographs with lookalikes, some of who dressed like the actor in Wonka and Dune.”
However, as the doppelgängers started to strut down the red carpet, the NYPD ordered the large group to disperse, slapping organisers with a $500 fine for an “unpermitted costume contest” (*buzzkill*).

A police spokesperson confirmed that one person was detained and issued summonses, while a video shared on X claimed the event’s organiser was arrested.
Despite police presence, attendees continued on with the contest as Timothée lookalikes strutted through the crowd. A fan in a purple Willy Wonka costume took the crown, though it’s unclear if they scored the promised $50 prize.
